I am a proud Anishinaabekwe, from the bear clan and member of Pikwakanagan First Nation, I grew up in a small community close to Algonquin Park. I spent most of my childhood playing the most popular out door games...hide and seek in the forest, driving dirt bikes, and hiking. My most treasured moments are those that I spent camping, canoeing and fishing in the most beautiful and serene places with family and friends. I am still able to enjoy these activities with my parents as well as my own family and grandson. I enjoy the connection I have to my culture and traditions using Indigenous ceremony as part of my self care.
During my adolescence I went through a series of events that sparked physical, mental and emotional health issues. I struggled with depression, anxiety and PTSD. Although my healing journey was a long and difficult one, I was blessed with a fighting spirit. Experiencing these challenges have enabled me to appreciate all things and be able to better understand and support my clients. My experiences have defined my purpose...to help people. I have volunteered as a liaison for the depression and manic depression network in the West Island of Montreal, volunteered in the Out of the Cold program for Homeless persons in Brantford Ontario, and upon moving to Pembroke I did the training and support program for Victim Services as a crisis responder. My interests and educational pursuits led me to Therapeutic Touch where I became a practitioner, I worked in support counselling and became a cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) practitioner, Mindfulness Master Practitioner, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Master Practitioner, Life Coach and an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist (Acudetox). I am also a graduate of Indigenous Wellness and Addictions Prevention. I offer a variety of services to help you on your journey to wellness and/or recovery. Whether your dealing with Stress, PTSD, Addictions, Mental/Behavioural Health or you would like a sense of relaxation and well being we can work out a unique and individual treatment plan to best suit your needs. I do not only provide individual therapy and treatments but also provide group Acudetox where individuals can experience a sense of community and support, without self identifying. I am continually grateful for my clients, and the trust and confidence they place in me. I truly am honoured to walk healthy healing journeys everyday in a safe, compassionate, non judgmental and culturally sensitive way.
